Mandatory Motor Insurance Requirements
UAE is a beautiful place to visit and a great place to live, but it is always important to keep your vehicle risk-free from damages and accidents caused by other vehicles at least to a certain degree. You should know about two types of motor insurance in the UAE: the First-Party Liability (TPL), and the Comprehensive policy. According to the UAE traffic law, the First Party Liability (TPL) is the only form of independent coverage, which the government obliges you to purchase, that covers damages to a car you hit during the accident caused by your car. Under this policy, damages to your car are not covered at all.
To the contrary, the Comprehensive policy covers as much as necessary and even goes beyond that such as covering your vehicle from theft, fire, and other risks. In contrast to TPL, which is obligatory, a great number of vehicle owners take on Comprehensive insurance for the sake of additional assurance and enjoyment.
Optional Add-Ons and Extras
Aside from the basic TPL and Comprehensive insurance, there are optional add-ons and extras that vehicle owners can consider to enhance their coverage. Some common add-ons include roadside assistance, agency repair, off-road coverage, and personal accident cover. These extras can provide additional protection and convenience for drivers, especially in emergency situations.
Before choosing add-ons, it’s important for vehicle owners to assess their own needs and driving patterns to determine whether the extras are worth investing in. Though optional, such additions can prove to be beneficial in building a wider coverage depending on every person’s specific circumstances.
“Choosing the right car insurance is fundamental to the driver in the UAE. Knowing the differences between TPL and Comprehensive, as well as the optional add-ons, will help the drivers to make smart decisions and to protect themselves and their vehicles on the road.” – Expert Insurance Advisor
